The foundation of how I approach my work is quite simply excellent design, strong relationships, and consistent professionalism.
I have a deep belief in the team approach with a combination of the owners, their architect, designers, subcontractors, and me. One of my favorite parts of the job is sitting down with my clients and sketching out ideas. On site, I love creating a sense of community in craftsmanship and often throw taco parties for everyone involved in the project. This brings out a sense of old world barn-raising which is so special. It’s imperative to me that everyone from the lowest level laborer who’s digging a trench feel like he’s a part of the team all the way through to the owner, architects, etc.—those relationships become evident in the results.
I value the specific expertise of each member of my team and rely on the wisdom and knowledge they bring to the table. They are a part of the decision making process the whole way through. This is only bolstered by the relationships that have been built over numerous projects and years. They understand my philosophy and they can therefore support that with their trade expertise.
It’s ideal to bring a contractor in early in the process to identify the best approach, which is what I tend to do. Often times, realtors come to me asking for recommendations for their clients, or I get referrals from past clients, so I have the opportunity to be a part of the project from the ground up and help put the team together. This is so helpful in the long run to complete the home efficiently, affordably, and beautifully.
I am involved every step of the way and am onsite ensuring that the owner's vision, the architect's vision, and my sense of artistry are integrated into each element and throughout each phase of construction. I generally do not have a middleman on the site – I am the supervisor and I am the one that my team answers to. I keep the quantity of projects small intentionally so that my clients receive my undivided attention. I am too passionate about these things, about the owner's vision to hand them off. I want to see them through. That's why I come to work each day. That's the spirit that I lead the team with.
